Great article on Women who RV. I think your article is very insightful!! Only comment is that some of us need new vistas and new challenges to keep our interest at a peak!! I also believe that if you are continually adjusting to new situations, your brain is probably not withering!! Heaven forbid that our brains take on the attitude that a smooth transition from one day to the next is the ideal. I am a 79 year old who did’t start RVing until I was 65 years old and the only thing I had to look forward to was watching TV. I LOVE my motorhome and want to keep going as long as possible!!! Jeannine
Jeannine, you are amazing and an inspiration! Thanks for reminding us that RVing has much to give us, to keep us young and challenge our brain cells. Love what you said about starting RVing at 65 when “the only thing I had to look forward to was watching TV”. And just think how many women resign themselves to just “watching TV”. Yes, just keep going, Jeannine!
I am 66, and I have been thinking strongly about starting to RV. Only problem is either my friends are a lot older and settled, or they are married and can’t leave their husbands. How did you find the courage to venture out on your own?
A good place to start is with RVing Women! Just go to rvingwomen.org, find the nearest chapter, and contact one of the officers. They can fill you in on the chapter and upcoming events. Then you can go to a couple rallies before you join to see if it’s a good fit for you. Many of us travel on our own and just love it. Almost every RVing Woman member likes to help others get started. Takes quite a bit of work to learn about RVs and to get started, but if you have the travel bug like we do plus have a passion to go new places, stretch yourself, and wear out rather than rust out, RVing might just be for you. Hope this helps and here’s to life on the open road.
