Grace Haddad writes: I stumbled across Cape May, New Jersey by accident. I had an absolutely wonderful time, all by myself. I stayed at The Depot Travel Park, 800 Broadway, W. Cape May, NY 08204 (609) 884-2533. It is a nice family campground with all the necessities but few luxuries. It’s major strengths were location, location, location. I walked or rode my bike everywhere. There were other campgrounds in the area. Some right on the ocean, others had pools and more amenities. None were a conveniently located. Nor were they as reasonable priced.
Cape May is a historic town with beautiful Victorian homes, hotels and, B & B’s. There is a cute little shopping area with nice shops, restaurants and bars. I was there the 1st week of October and it was warm enough to enjoy the beautiful beach. In addition there is a small zoo, lighthouse, another beach with the remains of a concrete ship, local museums, antique shops, etc. Evening entertainment was available.
I would recommend going in the spring or fall. Traffic in the summer months is very heavy. You almost have to walk or bike ride around town. There are a number of bike rental companies in town. I would highly recommend a visit to Cape May, NY!
